Cat. #00104013: TRISTRAM COFFIN

Rather scarce inscribed full-name signature-- as opposed to the usual "Tris Coffin"-- on a 4x6-inch white card, acquired in-person by inveterate collector John Virzi in the 1960s and decorated with a small image of the star. In good condition. Character actor Tristram Coffin's sinister looks and delightfully morbid surname made him the ideal villain in countless westerns, and cliffhangers like Perils of Nyoka (1942) and Spy Smasher (1942), but he was equally adept in hero roles, as in the horror classic The Corpse Vanishes (1942) with Bela Lugosi and the 1949 serial King of the Rocket Men.  His many other contributions to the horror, sci-fi and fantasy genres included The Mysterious Dr. Satan (1940), Man with Two Lives (1942), The Brute Man (1946), the Charlie Chan flick Dangerous Money (1946), Bruce Gentry (1949), Outrage (1950), Flight to Mars (1951), Captain Video, Master of the Stratosphere (1951), Stamp Day for Superman (1954), Creature with the Atom Brain (1955), The Night the World Exploded (1957), The Crawling Hand (1963), two classic episodes of T.V.'s "Batman" (1966), and The Resurrection of Zachary Wheeler (1971).
