Cat. #000526: ADRIAN BOOTH

Scarce and just great 8x10-inch black and white portrait as wicked Vultura, ruler of the Arabs, in the 1942 Republic serial Perils of Nyoka, boldly signed and inscribed with her full married name, Adrian Booth Brian, and adding the name of her character, in blue felt-tip marker in the 1980s. In good condition. Lovely fashion model-turned-actress Adrian Booth was billed as Lorna Gray prior to 1945, memorable in Three Stooges and Buster Keaton comedy shorts, and a long string of B-movies, including Smashing the Spy Ring (1938), The Man They Could Not Hang (1939) with Boris Karloff, Flying G-Men (1939), Convicted Woman (1940), Bullets for Rustlers (1940), Deadwood Dick (1940), Perils of Nyoka (1942), Ridin' Down the Canyon (1942), Captain America (1944), and The Girl Who Dared (1944). It was in the interest of acquiring better work that she switched her name, but, alas, she was forced to trudge on in similar films, like the cult horror favorite Valley of the Zombies (1946), Daughter of Don Q (1946) and The Plunderers (1948), and she abandoned Hollywood to raise a family in 1951. This is just the second signed image of the actress from this cliffhanger series we've ever encountered.
